There’s a pretty decent explanation of the social history underlying the fight for Net Neutrality. This is going to be a big fight, and the author creates a useful narrative to understand it. As a teacher, I could wish for somewhat better editing and prose, but hey, it’s the summer and I’m off the clock. 🙂

Net neutrality is a no-brainer to anyone not in the pocket of the telecommunications industry. It’s true that we could drop the current system and have everything be fee-for-service, but I’ve yet to hear anyone explain to me how that transition is actually going to work. Here I am at a university; are my packets going to be delayed relative to others unless my university forks over extra cash to SBC?
