Young teachers have the terrible disadvantage of youth. The standard twenty-two-year-old recent college graduate is still in the final throes of adolescence themselves, completely unequipped for teaching kids just starting adolescence. I was old for my age--or so I was told--and it still affected me severely. You’re so damn smart.
